Hiking safely with K6 Yachting
The material used complies with European standards and it is regularly maintained and renewed.
During the hike, your guide has a first aid kit, a tow rope, a spare paddle, a phone in a watertight case and a sound signaling device.
Before every hike, you receive a basic training on safety and the basics of sea kayaking.
The guide is informed of the latest marine weather forecasts and can make the decision to cancel or to postpone the hike.
A motor boat is always available for towing and rescue people in danger.
SECURITY AND ETHICS CODE OF A KAYAKER IN THE CALANQUES:
• Wearing a security vest is highly recommended (required on board the kayak).
• In case of heavy seas I stand at a safe distance from the coast.
• In case of trouble I stay on the kayak. I will never return swimming (you will be safe on the kayak and easily visible from a distance).
• In case of problems (weather, tiredness) I remain sheltered in a safe place and wait for rescue. A motor boat rescue will come for me.
Equipped with a mobile phone is a pledge of safety on a kayak.
• Be courteous at all times and respect other kayakers. Offer your help to anyone who seems in need.
• Never wash anything directly in the water. Washing (dishes, laundry and shower) always on the ground with a biodegradable soap. In this way, the ground plays a full filter role.
• Use a stove to prepare your meals, provision of fire-producing items (lighters, cigarettes) is prohibited. If there is a danger of a burning forest, the circulation of people in the calanques is forbidden or allowed only between 6 to 11 hours.
• Collect all your garbage, do not throw any solid or liquid waste, neither in the ground, nor in the sea, while leaving a site, no unwanted trace must be found.
• Spread this ethic code to others.
